i ain't good looking but i'm someone's child

"All my people right here right now
D'You know what I mean?"

- oasis, in what must be the most blatant show of rockstar-ness. off the track "D'You know what I mean?"

was reminded of the song by ben elton's 'high society', which is fantastic. just picked up 'popcorn'. and a travel guide to chicago. and as such, mentally pushed off math revision till forever.

US embassy today was interesting. the woman at the security post was extremely irritating. dripping with disdain, her idea of providing information to this poor hapless visa-applicant-to-be was really bad service defined. and i would have been happier if she had been rude to everyone, me included, but she wasn't, so it wasn't just that she didn't know better, but probably because the woman who came to her for information was obviously a chinese national.

the actual interview was pretty funny. took a number, sat down, showed some one the number, sat down again, and had interview with a very american-looking american guy. who asked me 4 questions in all, one of which was "can you please state your full name?". at the end of the whole thing, he made a big show of filling up this tiny corner of the form, folded the bunch of stuff and placed them into my passport, before telling me that my visa has been approved, which was probably the case before i even walked into the embassy. so basically, i went all the way there so they could take my finger prints using their fancy fingerprint machine. fun.

oh well. COMEX tomorrow! and now that my bank account is again in a 4 digits, i can actually buy something. like a webcam (or 2?) and a proper shock protection case for my laptop.
