i am in college. as much as it had begun to hit me over the past week, yesterday and today was a wakeup call of the highest order. right now, i am sitting in the campus starbucks, on my laptop, reading adam smith (off econlib.org! i should return my books) when i REALLY want to get on with the 'picture of dorian gray' and worrying about math homework. and i'm glad.
i apologise to those i tried to persuade otherwise. college kicks army's ass anytime. i'm sorry to all you folks stuck in the bureaucracy of the SAF. endure and overcome! college is going to rock. last night, i was doing my math in the common room with help from 2 guys doing honors analysis (which is like math, but weirder and harder) and there are people reading all sorts of hard books everywhere (i guess i can count myself amongst them). i'm not sure if all colleges are like this, but UChicago is a seriously academic place. hongwan, if you are reading this, hurry up take your SATs so you can come here. if you ignore all the crazy shenanigans, you will LOVE this place.
[at this point i walked 5 blocks to my dining hall. and now after lunch i'm at the library]
and walking through the quads, i saw people sitting on the grass, reading hard books, having lunch and just being academic-y. how nice.
