so are you ready to go?

oddly enough, i must have enjoyed myself to some extent today. because when i got home, my first instinct wasn't to knock my head against a wall.

i ate dinner and caught up on missed sleep. but of course right now, i'm just adding to the sleep debt again. urgh. going to have to readjust my body clock.

but to the point. moot parliament makes no sense. you're given a script at first and just basically read out stuff. but you'd think that after years of conducting this they would at least get the script right. but no. the free for all debate was also pretty weird, cos the topic was really off. all for female enlistment, but really not as nurses. neither was everyone. and for some reason (well the same reason as always and which i'll never understand), the topic veered to teenage pregnancy and became predictably dubious with teen sex being brought in. i swear we are a generation obsessed. naval base that followed was pretty standard stuff. SAF shows civilians that SAF is really great and stuff, civilians (i mean the girls obviously. the guys don't count) leave feeling that serving SAF is pretty cool and consider for a split second signing on before realising they have to keep short hair and wear ugly uniforms forever.

yet somehow, at the end of the whole thing, it felt acceptable, like i was beginning to live with it. hell, i'm making PDC sound like a nazi concentration camp. it's really just a bunch of people dressed up to feel important, when really it's pretty empty.

perhaps cos today i spoke to someone interesting. our dear faciliator gave 4 of us a ride to buona vista (home!) from changi in his beautiful BMW today. among the 3 others was someone rather fascinating and, dare i say, amazing. and we used to be neighbours. my mom apparently remembers her and her mom. which says something about my mother really. but again to the point. perhaps the whole point of PDC is to get all of us, some just average and some extraordinary, together and hope that somehow it all works out, whatever the end result is. that sounded rather stupid, but i guess that's about how it's shaping up.

note to self: do not volunteer to let ISD people use their prods and probes on you.
