i'm extremely fascinated by how far technology has advanced in terms of portable music. when i was riding the bus home today, i realised i had somewhere between 40 to 60 albums (okay, crappy estimate) worth of music sitting in an mp3 player that fits in the palm of my hands. which is pretty awesome.
i used to buy loads of cds. in fact, i think i have slightly more than a 100 in my collection now, which is by no means extensive, but represents a significant "investment". it used to be that, before mp3s and mp3 players and cd burners, the only way to carry around music was to actually buy a portable cd player (i've gone through 3 of those in my lifetime - and i'm on my second mp3 player) and the cds to play in them. how far we have come from there.
and don't get me started about windows media player 11. i know itunes have had most of those functions for awhile, but i'd never really relied on any kind of software to manage my music, but since my new player integrates so well with WMP11, i decided to play around with it, and lo and behold, it is amazing. i have album art for most of my ripped albums, and they transfer onto my mp3 player so i can see which album the song i'm listening to is on. that's pretty cool.
okay, enough gushing about the state of technology. main point: i'm feeling oddly light. in that i feel as if i'm ready to forget certain things and move on, and just let things be as they are. so often we get caught up by things we think we can control, when in reality, so much is beyond our control that we really shouldn't get upset by them.
ultimately, people will do what they want to do, regardless of what we want them to do. that's just how the world works. people do stuff, and you respond. nothing can be really predicted, we just carry on. so people have reacted to what i have done, and now i have to carry on. nothing i could have done would have really prevented reactions i feel are unfavourable, so i should not harp on them.
okay, that's it for me then. i realise how irrelevant the title of this post is to the body. i was just listening to the song, so i suppose it is totally unrelated.
