all of these things i said to you

i'm supposed to be reading something or another, but since it's not due in about half a week, i can take my time.

the best view in a cinema is the projection box. really. okay, not in the new cineplexes with giant automated projectors, but in the traditional cinemas run by actual projectionist using largely manual methods. it's amazing, all the whirling equipment next to you and having to keep an eye on things to make sure the whole illusion is complete. magical.

so after my first night as an apprentice projectionist, i am already hooked to the idea. my projectionist has been doing this for 6 years. he's a grad student and i can totally imagine what keeps him coming back. and while i was riding the last bus back to the shoreland, the thought of how inconvenient and crazy it is to spend every saturday night at the cinema was quickly dispelled by how much i know i will enjoy it.
