being back in chicago has been an exercise in retaining my confidence in the face of obvious uncertainty. there is something distinctly familiar about everything here which has allowed me to slip back in a routine. on a basic level it's been very easy to simply operate. what's challenging is fighting the old demons, and on that front i've been failing.
